Owner and Head Chef James Cross started his career at Simpsons in Birmingham (1 Michelin Star) with Chef Luke Tipping. He then travelled to 3 Starred La Pergola in Rome to work under Chef Heinz Beck followed by a stint in New York at 3 Michelin Starred Per Se with Chef Thomas Keller. He then spent two years working at Noma in Copenhagen and was part of the team that saw them twice retain the coveted No 1. spot in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards.
Sally originally came to Lake Road Kitchen in 2014 to help out with a few waitressing shifts (having previously worked for both Gilpin Hotel and Linthwaite House Hotel), but left her career as a Community Musician to take on the job of Restaurant Manager in 2015. Her most important job is personally processing every booking request, but also deals with our finances; recruitment and restaurant operations. Handling things behind the scenes from the home office, she can also be found on the floor on special occasions…
Nick joined Chef in the kitchen as Senior Chef in May 2022 after 7 years with Chef Tommy Banks at the acclaimed Black Swan at Oldstead where he was Senior Sous Chef & Development Chef. He brings great technical skills and a highly creative mind to the team.
Darren joined us in July 2022 from Inn on the Lake where he was 16 years as both Duty and Restaurant Manager. He brings years of experience and incredible customer service skills to the floor (not to mention his South African charm).
